(Grammar) Present Tense, Past Tense and place marker.

  • Present Tense is Korean is a verb that added with 해요. That means, something that you are presently do.
  • 뭐 공부해요? What do you study?
  • 한국어 공부해요. I study Korean.
  • 언제 시작해요? When does it begin?
  • 한 시에 시작해요. It begins at 1 o'clock.
Past Tense in Korean is a verb that added with 했어요. Look at the ~ㅆ어요 at the word, any word that have this means it is describing something that had been done in the past.
  • 공부했어요? Did you study?
  • 공부했어요.. I studied..
  • 일했어요? Did you work?
  • 일했어요. I worked.
-었어요 is a past tense ending that follows verb stems with vowels 어,여,우,유,으,이 and final consonants.
  • 감기 걸렸어요? You cought a cold?
  • 감기 결렸어요.. I cought a cold..
-았어요 is the same meaning as -었어요, but is follows verbal stems with vowel such as '아, 야, 오, 요' and final consonants.
  • 학교에 갔어요? Did you go to the hospital?
  • 학교에 갔어요. I went to the hospital.
The place marker in Korean is -에.
  • 학교 (school)
  • 학교에 (to school)
  • 학교에 가요? Do you go to school?
to tell that something happen in that place, just put 에서 which means 'at'
  • 학교에서 공부해요. I study at school.
  • 집에서 공부해요. I study at school.
