(Grammar) -요 , -세요? and -세요.

-요 is a polite, informal verb ending. Both questions and statements can end with -요 in Korean. A verb can be complete sentence in Korean by just adding it. Example:

  • 가요? Are you going?
  • 가요. I go.
  • 만나요? Do you meet him/her?
  • 만나요. I meet him/her
-세요? is more polite asking way than -요? Usually used for family like Father,Mother, and grandparents. Also been used for talking with the seniors in the company or teacher at school. Remember, is someone asking you with -세요? you just need to answer in -요.
  • 가세요? Are you going?
  • 가요. I go.
  • 만나세요? Do you meet him/her?
  • 만나요. I meet him/her.
-세요 in not asking way is means Please Do. It is just a polite way if you need a favour from someone.
