How To Overcome This Situation?
1) Good Strategy
Every newcomer or rookie in Kpop music need a good strategy and timing to promote them. A good timing is needed especially for their debut so they can be noticed from the crowd of senior acts. A very good example that you can refer is Infinite. Before their debut, they have their own show just to announce the fans about their existence and they will come to the stage as a Kpop boyband soon. This is how the rookie get noticed by everyone and on their first appearance on stage, they have the fans waiting for them.
2) Good Promotion
Arrange radio interview, variety show, social media, and stage performance in any event into the schedule. Do not rely on TV Shows (SBS,MBC,KBS,TnN) only because the schedule for any TV station is been arranged 3-4months earlier or maybe more. If you wish you can interfere the schedule that easy, please think twice. So try another promotion method like Youtube channel, radio interview, official website and try to get them participate on any variety show.
3) Reach The Fans
It is very important for the artist to reach the fans. In their early appearance, why not try to make an event or participate in any event in the High School, University, charity, and much more. Make an announcement that they will be performing at certain location and let the fans know.
4) Focus To The Market
It's okay if the boyband/girlband is not popular in their own South Korea than out of the country. Focus to the market and visit the country that favor them often. This is how the new artist can keep their momentum and stay longer in the industry.
5) Collaboration With Senior Act
This is one of the best way to promote the new act. By featuring senior act in their song or music video, the fans will noticed the rookie easier because they've been following the senior act career.
6) Be Unique
Yes Kpop maybe sound alike. This is why the fans need to identify them by their uniqueness. Put a signature sound for each rookies, so once the song come out, the fans will notice that it's them.
We might focus to popular Kpop boyband and girlband only these days. The other bands also giving their same effort, practice, blood and sweat to debut. So it is not fair for them to be 'unpopular'. The label company needs to promote them and prepare a very well-planned strategy so there is no rookie will be left behind. Use all opportunity out there to reach the fans. We wish all the best to new rookies in Kpop music.
