My dear friends who love Pop music but never heard anything about Kpop, the news about BTS winning BBMA definitely blowing out your mind right? They are the first Kpop act to be nominated and won the award. Our Pop world isn’t the same as we knew between 90’s-2000’s. This is why BTS won BBMA and how you can bring this award back to US.
1) They Have Army Around The World
What kind of Army? Army is the name of BTS fandom. In Kpop, we don’t simply call the fans just “fans”. They have their own signature name. Army belongs to BTS and they vote for them everyday since they received the announcement that BTS was in the nomination.
2) Kpop Fans Voting For Them Too
Even the non-Army also voting for them in the name of Kpop. They do it because they want to contribute to Kpop and be a part of the blooming music trend right now. Kpop is not only singing Pop in Korean language. Kpop is a package of great voice, impressive dance move, up to date fashion, clean image, good looks, friendship, teamwork, and they have their Kpop fans as their back-bone.
3) BTS Never Expect Of Winning
You can thanked the Army and Kpop fans for that. BTS were excited to be nominated but the fans did the voting and encouraged them to be confident in winning. Even BIg Hit Entertainment (their label company) never thought something like this would happen. Thanks to BBMA as well for nominating BTS, you might never thought this would come don’t you?
Want To Bring Back This Title To The US? This is how:
1) Learn What Your Fans Want
Every Pop singers, or whatever genre the singers are in, they must have fans in this planet. Real pop was dead in the US officially in 2001 because of the fans are looking up to pop rock, alternative, Hip Hop,RnB, street style of dance and they start thinking of the Pop girlband and boyband clean image as a joke. Pop existed in the US not only in the 90’s, it’s from the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson. But since the music got killed by the other music genre and the antifans were labelling real Pop as an embarrassment to follow, the fans now lswitching to South Korea where real Pop is still alive. They still enjoy boybands and girlbands who can dance and sing (very well) to serve their daily entertainment supply. One or two Pop icons in the US giving not enough varieties to the pop music lovers, so more Pop idols, boyband and girlband have to debut.
2) Sexy Image Is Not Enough
Most of the Pop singers in the US are selling sexy image. Pop is not depends on the sexy image to work. The Pop artist need to spend time with their fans, involve in variety shows, maybe acting in drama or movies, anything that let the fans to know their Pop idol better than their sexy image and gossips so they have something to chat about with their friends everyday. Most of the pop fans are teenagers, so we don’t think that their parents will allowed their teenagers to idolized someone based on their sexy image and gossips. Show them the good side of the Pop artiste, just like how you do it back in the 90’s till 2000’s.
3) Dance Dance Dance
Do not just sing. Do not let Britney Spears or Megan Trainor to do it alone. Bring out more boybands and girlbands just like we used to have before. We still don’t have enough NKTOB, BSB, Nsync, Spice GIrls, 5ive, Westlife, A1, Code Red, Take That, Boyzone, 911, etc etc and we believed that US/UK Pop Music Industry still can produce more boybands and girlbands like that. The fans love to dance along with their idol. With the hell if they are antifans out there that try to burn Pop image once again using their mental attack. They won’t win this time because the fans will protect their idol in the social media and everywhere. The fans are ruling now. So Pop is safe to breath and bloom again. Plus, you can sue the antifans for these two reasons. One, the one who tried to tarnish the image of your label artist by spreading bad gossips and two, the antifans who threatened your label artist with death threat.
4) Pay Attention To Your Lyrics
Once again we want to emphasize here, most of the Pop listeners are teenagers. The parents definitely not allowing them to listen or sing some song which contained inappropriate meaning in such a young age. Most of the Kpop songs are about love, friendship, happiness, motivation and family. They don’t have hidden sexual content or erotic message in their song. That’s why the parents are not worried if their teenagers listen to Kpop or learning korean language because there is nothing worrisome about it.
To Army and BTS, really proud of you guys and congratulations. We still have a lot of work to do and more challenges are waiting in front of us if we don’t appreciate what we have now. Keep up the good work and stay like this forever.
